I had a lovely night out tonight with a friend who, unbeknownst to me, loves Buffy. We discussed the glory that is Joss and many other things but one thing that came up is Buffy fic. Please spare a thought tomorrow for the family of Helen Kirk. She was bright and beautiful and deserved the best in life. I hope that in some ways she found it. She was killed in a car crash on Boxing Day and the funeral is tomorrow afternoon. She will be (and already is) greatly missed and mourned.

Yesterday I stood outside my office building with my colleagues and workers from other organisations housed there and engaged in the two-minute silence. ‘Engaged’ doesn’t seem to be quite the right word - after all it suggests activity and for those two minutes there was stillness and quiet, usually such passive things.
