At 5am, I put on my armour and head outside.

My armour - this morning a pair of Mizuno leggings and a yellow Adidas top paired with Brooks running shoes and icebreaker socks - protects me from cold, from wind and even from rain, so long as I put on my footy supporter cap. I don't know what to say except: yes. We talked about this last weekend at a party, as several of my friends live or have lived near where she was murdered, and it's no less safe than most of the places we walk alone in.

Thanks for posting this. I was thinking about this on my run this morning, and reflecting on how, while I was alert and maintaining my situational awareness the whole time, the prospect of being raped and murdered by a complete stranger wasn't even on my radar. My sister also used to live a block or two from where Jill Meagher was last seen, and we've certainly walked those streets many times.
