We had our second camden sheep prac today. we got to watch someone shear sheep, then a few of us had a go. I felt so bad for the sheep! We(including the demonstrator) werent very good shearers..the poor sheep had a few cuts ( Read more... )

barbecue picnic

I'm thinking there's some link between the sheep and the barbecue.

no no no! it was mostly vegetarian! we had alot of salads, bread, dip, cakes. we used the barbecue to cook corn, potatoe 'chips' and eggplant!
there was a little chicken.

no, no mountain oysters. we cut because they said that the rings caused alot of pain after it was put on(the lamb was rolling around and twisting) while the lamb didnt show as much pain after castration with knifes or the gas shear thing. yea, it was kind of hard to watch the start, cause even though u know some of it needs to be done, it still feels very cruel.

OMG DID THEY USE A HOOK FOR THE CASTRATION? >=D

But yeah, poor sheep - you make it sound as though you didn't use anaesethic, though O_o

well, you got to choose whether you wanted to use the hook or the clamp..
and there wasnt anaesthetic. they dont use it in farms for procedures like this, because it costs money.

haha, actually, the castrations and stuff were done in the afternoon after the barbecue!
