Yeah, this is the second installment. It follows The Nymphs, which I posted a week or so ago. I just edited my posting to make that clear. Anyway, the two pieces are very different in style and tone and can totally be read independently. I hope you'll like both!

Thanks. I wanted to do something different from what we've seen from them before (especially you know give them extra kisses!), but still be consistent with the story thus far.

Absolutely I could buy this as canon! I loved every little bit of it: the way Bill took care of her (the comparisons to his kids), her dry humor with the whole situation, and the way they broached the fact that everything could change. This was a moment I'd never thought about actually---that even without New Caprica, Laura would have to move out (and would really have nowhere else to go)---so it was so fabulous to see it. And now I'm rambling (sorry!). Suffice it to say that I loved this. *g*

I'm glad you liked it so much, and I'm glad it rung true to you. I like to think that he'd have tried to support her. I've always wondered how they dealt with her leaving the presidency and then the fleet. I want to believe that they contemplated a change in their relationship, only to get sidetracked by tragedy of Cloud 9.
