I completely agree with you! We got close with the Michael stuff until Adam, but I think this could finally be the plotline we've been looking for.

That was so sad, beautifully written, and just how I would imagine this playing out between Dean and Cas.

And I loved Cas berating Sam for telling Dean he was selfish - “Why would you say something so… so…. hurtful?” - I think a lot of us thought the same!
