The Humble Indie Bundle mostly went open source a while back. Could look at improving one of them. Not sure what's happened with them since then.

Looks like all of them but World of Goo have released their sources. It's not clear whether they're actively in development, per-se. But still worth looking at for learning purposes. Thanks!
