Did you search using words IN Japanese?

Other than that, I have a friend I could ask, but won't be able to until I get back from Japan... :p

That's what I mean. Sadly, LJ has no way of specifying the overall language of a journal.

Is "wapanese" a typo, or a neologism?

Wapanese = white person who thinks he is, or at least acts as if he is, Japanese; compare to wigger. Also known as an egg (white on the outside, yellow in the middle).

How about Mixi, which seems to get cited as the most popular social networking site in Japan. Problem is, it's invite-only, so good luck finding someone to invite you. Also, it looks a little more like MySpace (without the ugly) than Livejournal; not sure if you care about that or not.

Or, you could check out any of the many other Japanese social networking sites listed here.

There are about five Japanese people in all of LJ... so basically, no. Mixi is the most popular of that sort of site, but I haven't managed to get into it (invite only)... There are Japanese sites to obtain a mixi invite, but the procedure is fairly difficult. I gave it a try, but gave up after getting a headache--besides, my rl Japanese friends are all at yahoo blog... I don't know anyone from mixi (or else I'd probably be able to get an invite).
