History help needed please

So, I have to do a half hour presentation for my spanish class *wibbles* on England/the UK, and I want to do a kind of overview of the history. My knowledge is fairly reasonable up to the norman conquest, but then starts to wibble rather alarmingly. And having tried researching big historical events from a starting point of nothing whatsoever

understand how you feel, after 9 weeks living in the woods my knowledge of current affairs took a bit of battering. it was a revelation that we had a new prime minister and the property manager mentioned something casually about multiple deaths after a terrorist atrocity in glasgow, was very relieved that one was ok.

Civil War - King vs. Parliament - he dissolved it for 11 years then asked them back when he needed cash. Ultimately went into a war, Parliament won cos Cromwell was awesome. Might be an idea to bother Colleen, I haven't done much recently.

Labour party - not very left wing atm, but who knows under Brown who has talked left in the past.

I was the same re: not actually knowing we had a new PM. It wasn't until someone in Switzerland actually asked me when he took over that I was like "Oh, yeah, I guess he has..."
