So, last night I was wandering aimlessly around the UKPagan forum, when I came across a thread about Mooncups...
For those who, like me, had no idea what this thing was, it is a little egg-cup-sized silicone cup that sits inside your vagina and catches the blood from your period. It's re-useable (lasts about 10 years), you just rinse or wipe it ( Read more... )

Where can you buy one? I was under the assumption that it was internet-only.
I dunno. I get squicked out if I get blood on me with tampons, I'm not sure if I like the idea of a cup of blood & stuff.

Boots sell them, or you can order them from the website I mentionned.

Oh, yeah, and apparently you don't get any more blood on you than with tampons, and it apparently looks cleaner.

i dunno the whole idea just disturbed me. i remember the adverts in the girls loos at college saying "rejoice! now you don't have to use tampons, you can have a recyclable mooncup'. but if it works i can see how it would be more convenient.

Yeah, admittedly, my first reaction was "WTF!?" but the convenient-ness and the hygein-ness and the environmentally friendly-ness and the money saving seem worth any the ick. And I guess once you get used to it, it's no more ick than tampons, plus think off all the tampons that won't be getting washed up on beaches! However ick or not ick it is, in 3 pages of posts there were no complaints and lots of people squeeing over them, so they must be good.
