As I rapidly approach my 59th year on this earth, I am endeavoring to explore aspects of technology that heretofore have left me behind. Among other things, I still don't know how to text, even though I have a phone that is capable of it

What you are dealig with is the apple interface. It will take awhile. It's not intuitive unless folks are used to macs.

Texting = same as typing an email, but can be limited in chacters.

Yes, remeber when we had to use the telegraph to communicate ;>, well text is that, but not using morse. LOL
