To be honest, also, part of my desire to stick it out in Australia is because travel can be a form of running away. There were some things I needed to fix in terms of my own happiness (career being one of them), and fleeing to go travelling won't fix the underlying issues.
... the re-adjustment trauma I went through on coming home the first time taught me that.

I was considering starting an MBA this year, but I think it's best if I defer that for a year... after the last year of ridiculous hours, a bit of work-life balance is in order for now. There's always next year ;)

Finland dog sledding, or something similar, ftw!

Aside from Tassie, I've been everywhere man. Including most of the places in that fucking song. It IS time to go OS. Like you, its hard to balance personal goals with financial goals.

And yeah...its not hard to see all that WA has to offer, down south anyway. Maybe Broome would be different, or the Kimberleys...but save that for a caravan trip upon retirement.

I put in an application for 2 weeks leave over Easter to go hiking in Tassie.... and I've raised the subject of me taking 5 weeks leave in September.

The Finland idea is a good one... I'll make some enquiries of Abisko Fjällturer. Their week long sled trips tend to book out well in advance so the deicison would have to be made early.

It miht be something more to do in 2011.

Hurrah for exploration! I have similar aspirations regarding the UK. I've lived here for almost 6 years now and have still barely seen a fraction of the country.

Feed that bug!
