Movie Review: United 93

United 93 invoked a wider array of emotions from somewhere deep down in me than any other movie I have ever seen.  Fear, pride, hatred, sorrow, anger, and terror all swelled up in me at different points throughout the movie.  I was so mixed up by the end that I couldn't speak for ten minutes after the movie ended...there's not too many things that ( Read more... )

I agree with everything. I've never been to a theater that sucks the oxygen out of the room near the end of the movie.

This movie should be required 'watching' this summer. Everyone has forgotten that the enemy does not sit across the political asile.

Gonna have to see that one. as you know, I don't get to the theatre that often, but this sounds like it'd be worth braving the crowds.

I've heard good things about the movie, and the members of the flight definitely displayed a level of heroism far above what most people could manage. What's sad is that a larger portion of the American people trained in the martial arts, even a number as low as 10%, 9/11 might never have happened. I won't even go into the politics of it, because it's tricky and unclear.
Pascal was also a mathematician and religious philosopher who developed what became known as Pascal's wager. Basically, he said you had two options and four possible outcomes. The options: Worship God or don't. The outcomes? Well, if you worship God and you're wrong, there's no God, then you haven't really lost anything. A little bit of time that probably helped you to be a better person. If you don't and you're right, you haven't really gained anything. If you don't worship and you're wrong, you've lost everything. Damnation. If you do worship, and you're right, however, you've gained a prize greater than imaginable.
Interesting bit of philosophy.
