I find it still quite funny that "Krampus" is so "unknown" in Germany, becaues I've talked to lots of GERMAN friends and neither knew about it. I basically grew up with it and my parents always said if I'm not a "good girl", Krampus will come with his huge sack and puts me and my sister in, and if we're "good girls" it'll be Nikolaus and one time someone was walking outside and really clanking with chains and me and my sister were so scared that "Krampus" is going t take us that we started crying *lol* I remember that very well... we were REALLY afraid :D ( ... )

Well, in Bavaria and Swabenland he is known as I just learned. Over here, as I said, we have the Ruprecht, I think he was added to St. Niklas because over here the cole mines had been and Ruprecht always comes along as cole-miner with black cheeks and he also can give cole instead of branches. That is very local all around the Ruhrpott. Northern Germany doesn't have either of them, not Krampus and not a Ruprecht. They only know St. Niklas. Local he comes with a fisher sometimes ( ... )
