I can't lie, Ar Tonelico is a deeply creepy series dressed up in frothy fanservice. I mean the big bad in the first game, Mir, is deeply sympathetic, because she was initially rebelling to free everyone from this kind of slavery! And then she failed, and the whole point to the first game is to say "we want to understand you, Mir, please give us a second chance to create a world where you would never have been abused as you were".
