Pumping it

After work, I headed to the gym as I usually do on Tuesday. It was nice enough weather to wear just shorts and a t-shirt tonight. I had a good workout and cardio. While working out, I saw one guy that I know at least used to work there. He's very hot and has the build I would love to have -- stong chest, low fat levels, muscular arms and legs ( Read more... )

I lost 100 pounds over 2 years, most of it at the gym. approaching the gym "in your free time" is never good. It needs to be an appointment that you can't miss. I went 4-5 days a week. I had a retail job that allowed me time to go on the off hours in the early afternoon mostly (11am-12 or so), which was the best time for me energy and dedication wise to go. Occasionally I'd hit the high traffic time of after work (on the days I got out between 5-8 pm). I felt really good about myself, did mostly cardio, and the weight loss from working out 9which just made me want to be even more active, which was great) along with eating often, but just small, attempting well balanced meals, 4-5 times a day, worked very well. I ate what I wanted, but it was large and fatty, I'd eat just half of it, and save the rest for later. I disvocered what it was to feel actually hungry again, instead of just eating because it was time to eat, or something to do, and eating small meals often is really the best way to increase your metabolism. Yeah, I set a schedule since I was always finding excuses not to go. Now I have a day and a half rotation -- Monday a.m., Tuesday p.m., Thursday a.m., Friday p.m. -- and it works well. The a.m. ones don't always offter me a ton of time because I have trouble getting going in the morning but I have time for cardio if nothing else. As fir the eating, I'm definitely feeling truly hungry at meal time. Usually getting hungry an hour before. I keep granola bars in a drawer at work in case I want a snack.

I have a mix set up on my ipod for the gym of upbeat stuff that will keep me moving and energized. That's what works best for me. I pay for the gym by the year which is a locking in rate of $299/year and my insurance pays $250/year towards a gym membership so it only really costs me $49. :)
