Sex question

Jul 15, 2005 08:03

I was thinking about something with all the sex surveys going around lately and I have a question for everyone.

Poll What is sex?

Feel free to discuss this more in comments. I've always been curious how people defined this.

poll, sex

"having sex" is often open to interpretation (just ask Bill Clinton!). Some people don't consider it sex unless you actually have penetration. For me, any of the options on your poll are considered sex. Basically, anything bringing sexual pleasure to one or both persons counts as sex to me.

That's why I said minimum. I assume everyone would agree on the last one and the way it's set up, anything below what one person chooses should fall into their definition of sex as well.

There are plenty who simply who aren't INTO anal who, upon standard "straight guy" definition, would never have sex. For me, it's : am I getting sexual gratification and giving it in return? Then, it's sex.

I'm not saying everyone else is wrong, but I dont' say I've had sex with someone until there's been penetration. Otherwise I'll just say I fooled around with a guy or something to that extent.

Hey, it's all about opinion. No one is "right" or "wrong" here.

For me, the word "sex" relies a lot on circumstances and connotations. For example, if I say two guys went into a bedroom to have "sex," I would mean they're stripping down, rolling around, probably some oral going on, but not necessarily anal. However, if I say two guys are in the backroom of a bar having "sex," I mean someone's bent over, getting screwed.

Because of the misunderstanding and personal definitions of "sex" though, I rarely use it anymore, and have often replaced it with words like "slap and tickle", "jack-off session," "messed around", or "fucked/topped/bottomed", using whatever words are appropriate for each scenario, just so there's no confusion about what went on.

I've had some great mutual masturbation sessions, and I consider them some of the best sex I've had. Of course I can rarely have a mutual masturbation session without oral sex becoming involved.
