I am not one for depravation so I dare you to cut back 25% on the one junk food you consume the most for the next two weeks.

Hey, one dare at a time! ;) I'll admit that I love change but change is still hard and requires focus and will.

Willpower isn't something to be taken lightly, it is the stuff of change taxing spirit, mind, and body.

That, and diet wasn't on my list! I'm specifically avoiding dietary changes right now.

So I guess that means, Declined! That'll be a good dare for a later time when I decide to change my diet. ;)

It is better to start exercising and then do diet changes than to do it all at once.

Although it is best to stop drinking sodas, if you are. Although real sodas to me seem healthier than diet sodas.

Also, one-day breaks are good, but more than that doesn't really help.

I agree, but I've never found a drink to replace it. Basically the day I find something I'd like to drink (or a few things I'd like to drink) instead of soda is the day I'll attempt to quit.

But the search for a substitute is on hold, running is most important right now.

I'm thinking when September starts I'll alternate running days with aikido days. I think that will give me a rest and let me push harder on the days I do run.
