Thoughts on Photoshop Elements

"I kinda feel like Yahtzee from 'Zero Punctuation' with all this nitpicky snarking. Maybe I should take my comments, post them on my LJ in form of a review and see if anyone finds them funny."

I said this to sarahcoldheart  while talking about my experiences with Photoshop Elements, or "Diet Photoshop" as I call it. And in retrospect, I might have used a ( Read more... )

Someone told me the thing with GIMP is that it was developed for Linux, and Linux lets you use multiple desktops - so you'd have all the GIMP windows on one desktop, and whatever else on a different desktop.
But, yeah, I don't like it.

My main problem the last time I tried GIMP was that whenever I tried to draw something, it would only draw a dot in the upper left corner of the image...

Well, obviously, you must have missed something totally obvious when trying it, and you should really have taken the time to get to learn the system. What's five hundred hours, anyway?

Yeah... That was pretty much the answers I got. Nope, not a fan of GIMP. ^_^

You may also want to try Paint.COM ( http://www.rw-designer.com/image-editor ) , it is pretty powerful, yet the user interface is not as troubling as GIMP one's. It can use Photoshop plug-ins and has layer styles equivalent.

Okay, thanks for the tip, but I'm not actually looking for anything at the moment... I'm pretty satisfied with Diet Photoshop, despite my nitpicks.

I have to confess that I use Gimp but the last thing I'll do is praise it to high heaven. It's definitively not user friendly and to be quite honest I only use it when MS Paint just isn't powerful enough for what I want.

Might have to give those programs you mentioned above a try though, would love to have something better than Gimp.

I used Artweaver for some time and was pretty satisfied with that. I also checked some sites for reviews of this RealWorld Paint.COM program, and that seems to get good reviews as well, but I haven't actually tested it myself.

I tried GIMP, and I could never figure out how to work it. x.x I have elements, and have found it relatively easy to use. I've never had the sizing problem though. O.o it always goes to 100%

Thank you. I feel very enlightened. ^_^

So it's not just Elements doing it, huh? That's interesting. And by "interesting" I mean "Adobe really needs to at least occasionally check what the hell they're doing."
