Title: Rules of Engagement
Author: hyacinthian
Rating: T
Author's Note: Unbetaed, and inspired by Legend of the Seeker possession funtimes. Minimal plot. Lots of cuteness.
Summary: Marian, we're engaged now! It's ... legitimate. RobinMarian. PWP, really.

Robin tries his best to give her a puppy dog look. "Come on, Marian."

"No," she says, laughing, running into the field. "No."

"What are you afraid of?"

She tries to stifle a giggle. "Well, you, obviously. What with your fluffy hair--"

"Oy!"

He reaches for her hand, slips his fingers through hers, before shooting her an imploring look. "We're engaged now, you know," he says, moving closer. "It's ... legitimate." She arches a brow.

"That doesn't mean we can skip all the marrying part to what you want."

"Not even a little?"

She laughs, pushes his face away. "Go home, Robin."

He smirks, eyeing her. "Don't think I'll forget about this."

She smiles. "I wouldn't expect you to."

Next week, as they're practicing sparring in the field, he's got her pinned between his arms, and slipping an arm around her waist, he leans in, breath hot against her ear, and whispers, "Did you think any more about my proposal?"

Her hips are wedged up against his in that way that makes her delightfully speechless but she takes advantage of his attempt to be seductive to jab an elbow firmly in his ribs. He grunts with surprise before she throws him up against the tree. "I win," she laughs.

He leans in and kisses her, a gentle pressing of lips on lips. He can feel her shallow breathing against him, her form shaking slightly from the exercise and them. And then, tucking a strand of hair behind her ears, says, "I really do love you, you know." A soft kiss against the hollow of her throat.

"Is that what you say to all the girls," she teases, "to get them where you want them?"

He pulls at the sleeve of her dress to expose her shoulder, and then, leaning down, the slight wetness of his tongue sliding against her skin. She feels warm. Really, really warm. "I don't want them," he says, voice low. "Just you."

She smiles then, even as her eyes close from the feeling of his proximity, his mouth on her skin, the slowness of his movements. "Uh-huh."

He pulls away, eyes twinkling with characteristic playfulness. "Don't believe me?"

She raises her brows. "No," she says, trying to hide her glee. "I don't."

And then he is kissing her - really kissing her, lips pressing, hands on her hips, tongue sliding tantalizingly along the edge of her lip. She bites down on his bottom lip, snagging it between her teeth, and he groans. She's pressed up against him, hips aligned just right to make her feel like her body's on fire.

"Robin," she whispers. "We shouldn't."

They're in the fields of Locksley, tall wildflowers coming up to brush against her legs. He reaches for the strings of her dress, slowly unlacing it. "Marian," he says, punctuating it with a wet kiss on her neck, "It's just us."

His fingers brush against the tops of her breasts and she sighs. "You," she says, even as he dips his head to nip at her collarbone, "are just impatient."

"That's not a crime."

"Not a virtue, either."

He chuckles. "Never said I was virtuous."

She pushes him away with a laugh, relacing the front of her dress. Leaning in, she kisses the corner of his mouth. "Patience is a virtue."

As she heads back towards the house, he groans. "You are going to kill me."
