Leaves very little chance for dangerous/violent criminals to end up back out where they could potentially harm somebody? Otherwise...I have no idea...

haha well, yeah, but same goes for just putting them into jail and trying to 'help' them or whatever. I mean... seriously. how to show people killing is wrong: kill them

Yeah, I dunno. The death penalty is a pretty lame concept in the first place.

About all I can think of is that sometimes the victims' loved ones have said it helped them achieve closure.

But no, I don't think it works as justice or a deterrent.

that's what I think. the only 'positive' things people ever come up with is that it gives the victims some kind of gratification or however you wanna call it (and in the end that means it makes them feel better because somebody else is being killed.... oh wonderful)
or people tell me that it's cheaper or that it's deterring. both is simply wrong
