what's for lunch, charley?

These images all came out of the 1961 children's book What's for Lunch, Charley? by Margaret Hodges. The illustrations are by Aliki who has done lots of other amazing work. (For those wondering, yes these images are copyrighted by the illustrator and Scholastic Book Services.) I picked up this copy of the book on eBay, but I also had a copy as a ( Read more... )

I googled "50's wallpaper" and found your LJ! It is amazing, some of the images remind me of my childhood (I'm 18!!!), my mom kept her childhood books and I always love them, there are images very similar with the ones you posted. Just great

This is my favorite childhood book (I'm 48 now). I liked it so much that I bought three copies- one for myself and one for each of my twins, now in 2nd grade. My daughter going to do her 1st book report on this book this weekend.
