It's tough being a Xander fan sometimes. In my own little Zeppo-friendly corner of LJ, it's easy to forget sometimes. Then every so often bits of the wider world intrude on my Xander-appreciating enclave. Sideswipes at people who like Xander "just being strange" in an unrelated post, etc. Not necessary, and not even on point. Just... gratuitous

Ohmigod, people actually think that?? But Xaaander. And I love his flaws -- they're what make him interesting. (See also: Willow.)

I think that .... ::phrases delicately:: when certain characters are set up as disliking other very popular characters within canon, they tend to get ragged on by fandom more than they would otherwise. Sad.

That is so true. And then when anybody says, "But Z would not do that. It is out of character; Z has never acted that way in canon," they say, "That's how I see Z and you can SFTU."

I'm so glad I didn't run across whatever you ran across. I love Xander too much not to let that get me very very angry. I won't read Xander bashing fic; even if it's just a tiny bash at him.
