Texas bout: quick recap

May 07, 2006 23:25

What a bout! While the record still stands -- no team from anywhere else has ever beaten *any* team from Austin since the dawn of modern roller derby -- there are 19 olive-clad skaters with much to celebrate tonight. Despite dropping behind 15 - 0 early, the Derby Liberation Front showed the persistence and tenacity that has distinguished them to ( Read more... )

DLF brought the heat. Devl Grrl was the Texas Rollergirl that was injured and had to leave the game after the 3rd jam of the second half. That brought the roster down to 12 skaters for the HonkyTonk Heartbreakers. I did not get the details on her injury, but she went down pretty hard on her tailbone, so I suspect that. She did recieve oxygen while be attended to. All in all the game was well played and the Heartbreakers learned a lot. Hope to return the favor in Seattle sometime :)
Ann R. Kissed was definitely mentioned in a few Heartbreaker circles as someone to watch.
Good Luck in your regular season.

WE were thrilled to have all of you.
Us Heartbreakers are really bruised up but so psyched that we got to play DLF. It was a great experience for everyone.
I hope Punchin' Judy was only banged up a bit and not seriously injured.
Everyone of your girls should be proud of how well they played.
I have some crazy super deep wheel shaped bruises all over.
Holy Moly that was a fun game!

I am glad none of these posts talked about the afterparty.
yikes!

Hahaha, oh, that post is still to come... though you may be relieved that my memories of it are none too clear!

I talked with Punchin' Judy later that night, and she was totally fine... just took a solid fall on a pre-existing bruise and it really, really, reallyreally hurt, but nothing more than that.

We all had such a fun time. All the DLF girls were talking about after the bout was how bad they wanted to go right back out there and do it again, most fun they've ever had bouting. Once again, the aces from Austin have shown us the future, and the future looks *good*.

hahaha.
Well hopefully you didn't notice me. I was having too much fun, dancing like a spazoid to get people to come closer to The Mansfields who were rocking but had way too much space up front. Really I don't care, I just don't like PHOTOS of my dancing, I always am contorted in the least flattering way.

Here is the update we got from Devil Grrrl.
Few back ribs cracked...Small upper spine compression...but Tailbone
is OK.
Ass is black..hard to lay down. Going to skate on MONDAY. NOT missing
a game...

ROCK!
I think she is crazy but only because *looks down* I myself have skated with broken ribs and after a few weeks of not letting them heal I broke them more deeply and was out longer in the end.

Yeah the general concensus is that we are banged up and smiling about it. It was one of our favourite games we ever skated.

Awesome... it's unfortunate that she's injured as much as she is, but thank god it's not worse. Tailbones are particularly not fun, and there's just not a damned thing you can do to help them along from what I hear. She's gonna skate tonight? What a nut. Man I <3 derby girls.

Cannot wait for Bumbershoot, that's gonna be an amazingly fantastic time!
