The first time they noticed was when Temple and Maitland returned from the cretaceous period. They were forced into medical before they were escorted to the Prospero flat. Anderson had gathered with Becker to unofficially get information from them until the Captain told him to stop. Even Lester showed his face to wish them well.

After that the new team were as tight knit as the old one. When Captain Becker had been badly bitten they had all congregated to make sure that he was okay. Temple made inappropriate jokes whilst Maitland kept him under wraps. Anderson kept his usual sarcastic tone when he told him that another second longer and they would be looking at a one-leg-less Captain instead, and how little help he would be to anyone. It was then that the medical team noticed quite how infatuated the poor tech girl was. Parker had looked through his file. Talked to them thoroughly.

Then Temple had forced Maitland to the medics after their adventures in the countryside and her caravan accident. Parker joined them with Anderson checking in quickly to make sure she was okay before quickly disappearing. The medics all noticed how distant he looked, and how he hobbled slightly when he walked yet when they offered to check him over he blanked them. The Captain would have checked in too had he not been on forced medical leave. They had to practically reprogram his clearance so he couldn’t come into the building to stop him from coming.

The next time it was Parker and Becker’s turn to be forced into the beds. They both kept ranting on that they were fine, that Ethan hadn’t done anything and they were in perfect health. Still, protocol called for it. They were both awkward glances and silent. They didn’t have to stay for long, Temple and Maitland were still at the wedding when they were released to freedom.

It wasn’t long until Parker and Becker were back, this time Becker was out cold having been shot twice with one of the weapons he detested so much. The field co-ordinator refused to move from his side the entire time. The medics shared loaded glances and kept her plied with frothy coffee. Whilst there was nothing else to do Maitland would join her. When he first returned to the ARC Temple sat with them for a while. Occasionally Anderson would turn up looking solemn then leave again and Temple left after a time to start on his own projects but Miss Parker didn’t move, only to relieve herself but she was always back at his side within the minute. He was only out for a few hours but he was delirious and tired when he came around and soon fell back to sleep with Parker’s hand in his, gripping a hold tightly. They made a bet that night that it wouldn’t be long. They were kicking themselves that they were so wrong. What did it take?

‘Giant-Arse-Bugs-From-The-Future’ were how Temple described what he had been attacked by. It still hurt him to breathe. Maitland, typically, stayed with him whilst they forced him on oxygen to bring his levels back to normal and patched up his leg. Becker kept an eye on him too, sitting on one of the empty beds. Anderson popped up to make some sarcastic comments and leave again as Lester and Parker both appeared. Lester reprimanded him for putting himself into danger, yet again and told him if he did it again he would shoot him his self.

It was the next time that really confused the medic team. They were hurried back into the ARC after the lockdown in order to check on Miss Parker. Miss Merchant, the lady from the past, and Miss Maitland even Temple came out of his hidey-hole to make sure she was okay. Lester had called them every hour to make sure she was okay. Yet Captain Becker didn’t come. The medics were confused. Surely he would be there? Every other time he was. No matter whom it was, this little team were always there for each other. Temple for Maitland, Anderson for Merchant, Becker for Parker; that was the way they worked. Becker never showed before they discharged Parker, much to their disappointment.

They lost a lot of people during the anomaly convergence but they had never expected to come back to Lester being severely injured. When the rest of the team returned to the anomaly site Parker returned, shaken and bloody. They cleaned her up, calmed her down and plied her with creamy hot chocolate. They offered her orange, their favourite, but she turned her nose up at it. She was back to normal by the time the team returned. Parker returned quickly with Becker, the pair of them pausing before entering. They watched, not caring about being seen, as the Captain tucked her loose hair behind her ear, smiling as she blushed. They placed a quick bet, kiss versus hug, they both lost as they entered. Minutes later they let them leave as long as Lester was in a wheelchair and wasn’t allowed to walk too far. As they walked away again one of the medics noticed Becker reach out and gently catch the back of Parker’s fingers. The medic slapped the other across the arm and pointed, holding out their hand, gesturing for the other to pay up. With a sigh and a back of the throat growl the other medic dug into their pocket and handed the other a crisp twenty pound note.
