Mad Men: Appalling. You'll love it.

Mad Men: come for the style, and stay for the scathing portrait of misogynistic 60s America.

So far, in eight episodes, I have seen:
  • Pregnant women drinking
  • Kids being backhanded across the face
  • Wifey copping the blame when sleazy boss hits on her
  • A rainbow of sexism
  • Smoking, oh, constantly

mad men, procrastination

I don't think I really understand Joan yet - she's such an undeniable bitch at first glance. But I LOVE her clothes, and I would die for her necklace. :)

Joan never has enough screen time IMO, so it's harder for us to get to know her. But thankfully until then we have something gorgeous to look at!

I agree! It's fascinating to see the difference between then and now.

I love Mad Men! I've missed the last two episodes, so I'm a bit behind. Apparently, the third season finale is epic (at least, that's what my cousin told me!).

I'm watching the last ep of the first season now! :D I think it'll take me a while to catch up.

I watched the whole second series in a day during the summer (AMC had a marathon before the third season started). I didn't get off the couch all day. Best day off ever!

There's a total WTF storyline in season 2. At least, I found it to be very WTF, you may not.

I'm guessing there's a lesbian subplot... between Betty and what's-her-face, divorced lady who Betty slapped. :D
