This is awkward.

Haha, so it turns out that none of my memories 'til now were actually my world. Boy, I feel really embarrassed now. Mac Anu doesn't really exist; it's just an imaginary town in a huuuuuuuuge online role playing game called "The World". I actually live in the Saitama Prefecture, which is in Japan ( Read more... )

So you're not the real you, but rather a game avatar? How is it even possible for that to work here?

I have no idea. Maybe I was playing when I ended up here? That's the only thing that would make sense...

It's the only thing that makes sense to me, too. But, uh...just how immersed does a player get in this game?

Well, I got pretty into the game. I used to burn food because I'd play while cooking and forget to check on it often...

I used a head-mounted display, just like almost everybody else who played "The World". I know that a lot of people took the game very seriously, so I guess you could say that people who played could end up well-immersed in it.

Cool! We're both from Japan. That game sounds pretty neat! You should not be embarrassed about thinking it was real. It can only be expected when your first memories are of the game and you look like your character.

Heheh~ It's nice to know you come from the same place as somebody else! Hmm... I wonder if we come from the same time, too?

"The World" was really popular, and with good reason! It was very realistic, which is why I mistook it for my actual world when I first started remembering it. I guess that's what I get for using the head mounted display to make it seem even more real.

Head mounted display? Wow. That sounds really advanced compared to the games I played. We just had the remotes attached to the tv.

Hmm~

Tsuna, what year do you last remember it being when you were back in your world?

Ah... I beg your pardon, but I'm afraid I don't know what an "online role-playing game" is. Could you perhaps explain it to me?

*Automatically assumes he doesn't know much about technology* Oh! It's this game played through the Internet, which is a communications network that allows people to talk to each other over long distances using machines. You can write messages to one another, or you can speak, or even send a moving picture of yourself over them.

There are a lot of other things you can do with the machines, and one of them is to play a game with a bunch of other people who are using the machines, too. The game I was talking about was one where you could pretend you looked different and had magic and you could go off and fight monsters and stuff. It was a lot of fun~

*keeps up, albeit barely* That's incredible! I've never heard of such a level of technology before.

It sounds like I'm from the future compared to some of the others around here. Maybe they could take people from different times, as well as different worlds.

...So, you're not really you?

Maybe none of us are really who we think we are? Tch, that would be stupid.

Well, I still act the same~ It's not like I'm just pretending to be like this. The only thing not "me" about me is my appearance.

That sounds a little far-fetched, but if it were true I wouldn't be too surprised.

Memories of a video game? I didn't even know that was possible.

hunterxofxrare May 6 2008, 02:39:28 UTC
Well, I played it a lot back home, so that's probably why I remembered it. I used to play it whenever I had some free time and I was home alone!

Sounds like something the guys would do! I was personally never too much into video games, but I'm happy you enjoyed it so much.

Hahaha, a lot of people were into video games where I'm from! You could find "The World" merchandise almost anywhere!

I think part of the fun was just getting away from real life and work for a while~ Going on an adventure, chatting with friends, stuff like that!
