I've been meaning to reply to this but I kept forgetting about it, sorry! I think most of the HxH fandom has moved to Tumblr now. I'm not on there myself because I prefer LJ's functionality, but maybe you'll have more luck connecting to other fans there?
I'm still really into HxH, but I don't draw, write or read fanfics, so I'm afraid I can't contribute much. u.u I have been posting lots of doujinshi translations to hxh-doujinshi though, so maybe check that out if you're craving some fan works? =3
I also still cosplay HxH ocassionally. I'll post some pics of the con I went to last weekend! =D
You're totally right, what's left of the fandom /does/ seem to have moved to tumblr (I still don't have one), but from what I"m seeing it's still pretty quiet.
I'm actually a part of your doujin community already! I love what you post, and would love to link fans to your stuff (I can put info up on my ff.n and ao3 pages with your permission.) Also, if I end up doing the tumblr thing, which will happen eventually, I'd love to share your stuff there!

Of course you can link people to the doujin community! As long as you actually link them to the comm so they can join there themselves, and don't post the doujins outside of it, I don't mind. ^^
With the manga on hiatus and no new anime, I don't really have that much to talk about when it comes to HxH anymore... ^^; Maybe it's the same for a lot of other fans, that could also be why things are quieting down... But I posted the con pics to my own journal and this community. ^o^ Here's hoping the manga starts up again soon... >w<
