The eeriness of that world came through here with only a few small references. It's somewhat reminiscent of The Book of Eli, but is very much its own thing.
I've always been fascinated by characters and people who have both a disability and a special gift, who are "differently abled" in a literal sense rather than as an overly pc euphemism. (My late brother would have fallen off his wheelchair laughing at me if I had ever tried to call him "differently abled.")
This story has a richness of detail, while holding back enough detail to give a feeling of depth.
One small note: the weather phenomenon is spelled lightning whereas lightening is the process of becoming or making lighter. Doesn't detract from the excellent flow of the narrative, though.
Best regards,
Jackie

Thank you so much for the comments. When I saw the art for this I immediately knew what I was going to do with Dean. There are so many stories where the loss of sight means some sort of psychic visions but I couldn't see Dean sitting still and becoming some sort of oracle. Instead, he used his gifts in a way no one expected him too. I liked playing with that idea and running with it to see where it would lead :P I couldn't see Dean as anything less than a hunter though, disability or not so this was how it came about :P
The Book of Eli was creepy and awesome and thank you for the comparison. I love a good post-apocalyptic story and getting a chance to bend the world is always fun :P
