Finally getting a chance to read this. I love the dichotomy you're setting up. How well they know each other; Sam reading Dean's intent in the way his hand moved to choke him, Dean pulling the covers up. But then there are the other things that say they are so damaged; Dean accepting Sammy wanting to be called Sam, Sam the gobetween for Dean and John.
