Rubbing at his face with one hand as though washing it, Dukes took a deep breath and walked down the hallway towards his and John's room. Entering, he closed the door behind him, hardly able to do more than nod.*

John held out an uncapped beverage trying to keep the atmosphere as light and easy as possible. He knew Fred hated with a passion talking things out, especially when it came to his emotions or past.
He knew fully well that it wasn't that Fred didn't trust him but truthfully who really liked opening up Pandora's box. It was all made far worse by the fact that John knew Fred felt guilty about keeping his friend awake at night or disturbing his sleep. John however was over that really, all he cared about was the fact his friend was stressing over something that could possibly be talked out.

*Damn these awkward silences, they were disquieting. Staring at the table in between the two of them, Fred avoiding looking directly at his friend. It was something he and Mortimer had in common: they did not like to see someone's face if they had to potential to judge them. It had been easier for Dukes before he became... unfortunately large.*

John tried to keep his manner as open and calm as possible. Fred had never been one for opening up and talking. Considerably less so since his waistline expanded
