This looks like a really cool meme! I feel you on the cyberpunk. Something that makes it particularly hard for me is my lack of science knowledge, so I always feel if I tried, it would be terrible. >_
Thanks for posting this! I always enjoy reading about your writing process (and I have a vested interest in hearing your thoughts behind the remixes.)
I noticed that with the exception of Blinding Ourselves, the others are all written as gifts. Does that change the dynamics of writing the stories for you? (Personally, I can't seem to motivate myself to write outside of fulfilling requests/ficathon challenges).
Sorry it took me a bit to get back to you! Been a few busy days!
I do think I tend to be more jazzed about gifts, especially as part of a themed ficathon like remix, because there's a purpose and a deadline. Plus, I like the prompts as a way to get ideas. I've got too many ideas of my own so not sure why the prompts appeal so much, but.... Remix is sort of interesting in that some people seem to write them as gifts and some as- how to put it?- almost as critiques of the other person's writing. Which to me is very interesting. Part of the reason I think remix is my favorite is because you've seen the story once (which is, in effect, a very detailed prompt) and now have to write it uniquely. Makes writing it and reading it a ton of fun....
