The structure of this series confuses me a little - like in this section, it wasn't until they started talking about teams that I knew when they were.

But what I like about this series is how it interprets what we know about Ino (and her friends and family) and pulls all those pieces together into a coherent way. So, we have the bits and pieces we know about Ino through Naruto's story (her friendship/rivalry with Sakura, her flowers, her crush on Sasuke) and see how they fit together into Ino's story.

(And I love how the fallout between Ino and Sakura is really about Ino feeling that Sakura betrays her as opposed to being about Sasuke.)

Thank you for the nice review! You hit the nail on the head in regards to one of the issues with the structure of the series. They don't happen in any particular set of intervals and it can be confusing. I try to put in a timeline indicator early but that doesn't always happen. Maybe I should put in years or something?

I like working with secondary characters for just the reasons mentioned. Seeing how their story fits into the wider world the creator of the fandom source made. I'm glad you like Ino's interpretation. As to Sakura and Ino, it is definitely what would have bothered me the most. I know some people feel that Sakura's actions were very typical twelve year old, but I hated her character for that. Maybe my twelve year old self was just waaay more sensitive/think-skinned, because I could not imagine having done anything like that over a boy. Ino has reasons to like Sasuke (both deep and very shallow reasons), but her competition with Sakura is really more based on that betrayal.
