I want to get back into geekery - especially sci-fi and roleplaying. I find geek spaces are intellectually engaging in a way which I find few other spaces to be. The problem I find is that a lot of geek spaces are disinterested in applying the intellectual vigour they value so highly to social justice and/or anti-oppression. You know, I just realized that I never consciously, if ever, went through the stages of that identity model when it comes to my various differences. Maybe it's just that I realized very early on that I was intellectually/cognitively different from most everyone else, had the crisis, and then applied the acceptance I gained from that to other aspects in my life in which I differed.

I just started playing some 4th edition D&D, playing a monk, it's been fun so far.

I am coming to terms with the fact that I am a religion/video game nerd. I am really okay with this ^_^.

I spend a lot of time watching old sci-fi TV-on-DvD with my husband.(Star trek:TNG, Buffy, SeaQuest, 3rd Rock from the Sun)

I sew, read sci-fiction & fantasy fiction, bicycle commute & do longer trips some weekends, run a Gurps 4th ed Dungeon Fantasy game alternate fridays and spend 1/4 to 1/3 of my weekends LARPing with "Inritius Alliance". I play a female character (Amazon) who was raised to hate men, in which I find myself exploring themes of sexism.

I'm teaching myself via book & CD how to play the bodhran, because I felt the need for another hobby.

I also do a costume for the Masquerade ball each year, which I usually turn around & wear to V-con (June 12th 7:30pm this year, e-mail geminifest@yahoo.ca for details)
