it's really hard to see into an apartment from the outside unless the lights are on, the sun is shining in or you have binoculars
it can feel fishbowly and unnerving, but it's unlikely that anyone is able to leer at you
i'm really fussy about this - my s.o.'s apartment is not really visible from the street, except you get a fine view of the dining room ceiling and some high up bookshelves when the lights are on
i close the the blinds on the breezeway at night for myself, however. and the lovely opaque curtain in her bedroom provides the extra assurance of privacy.
I used to find myself doing that when my nudist room-mate Karen would leave all the curtains open, I'd walk around the corner from the hall into the living room, then go "oh crap"
