Having done teh name-change thing, at least partially, I know what you mean. It's crazy how many places have recorded our names and addresses.

This is why we should use them only for informal interaction and otherwise be recorded only as numbers.

Well, that depends on the province. Quebec says you're stuck with it; BC will retain your preferred birth Id, but will record a preferred day-to-day numeral;
Saskatchewan requires a pricey denomenatoroplasty with signed notes from two mathematicians.
