Lots of words look (or sound) silly when you've seen (or heard) them too many times. But for some reason "miscellany" seemed incredibly odd when I was writing the post. Was. Was. Was. :-)

You know how you can look at a word and look at a word and after a while it stops looking like a word?

Oh my god, that used to happen to me all the time! Not so much anymore, but I still am skeptical that "bus" is a real word.

Well, "bus" is just a shortened version of "omnibus," so you could say it's nothing but a slang term that managed to get people to take it seriously.
