I'm getting wibbly about the dress that I got for my cousin's wedding next Saturday. It's the dress I posted about [see here, also I am not pissed off it's now only £25. I'm not. Honest.]

Basically, I was talking about it at work this week and one of my friends gave me this look about the colour. Now I'm feeling unsure, so I want to open this up ( Read more... )

My only issue is it sounds like this a day wedding and that dress looks more appropriate for an evening wedding.

Hmm I hadn't thought about that to be honest. It comes across as a smart day dress... the lace is fairly thin but it's cotton underneath.

It looks like a cocktail dress to me but it might look different in person. Also, I'm American so the rules might be different here. I've seen women wear red to wedding receptions held in the evening but for wedding brunches and anything in a garden setting during the day, it's floral prints, light neutrals (except white), and pastels.

This might sound ridiculous, but I don't actually know what time the wedding is being held at. I left the invite at my dad's place when I was over there.

It could look fairly cocktail-y, now you mention it, depending on accessories.

It's not too boobey, it's not too short, but it is flirty and bright which is what you want for a wedding.

I honestly don't get the issue. I would wear it for a wedding. I'd even wear it at a church wedding. But then, I wore a bright orange dress with bright pink shoes at a church wedding. No one seemed to find that inappropriate though, now that I think about it, and that was in the depths of Suffolk where fashion runs about ten years behind!

Seriously though, I think you should wear it.

I know, I know. I suspect I'm just being ridiculously dithery about it. One of those moods, you know?

Yeah I know what you mean. Leave it a couple of days, put it on and you'll remember why you picked it in the first place!

What shoes/jewellery are you going with? I'm envisioning a long string of pearls (well, beads) with a knot tied in them. If you see what I mean.

Yeah I'm thinking a long necklace as well... Was thinking of something burnished gold but I don't know what. I'd had to buy it at any rate.

I used to have some black beads but I don't know what I did with them...

I need to sort some sort of jacket or something out as well. I really should have thought about this sooner.

I'd wear it at a church wedding too. It's a gorgeous dress! And I suspect it is on sale 'cos it is available now only in larger sizes, so it's good that you bought it when it was in your size.

Lol I didn't even notice that about the sizes. :)

Your icon! Aw, just reminded me how much I miss Giles, lol.

I have some kickass, sky scrapping black open-toed platform stilettos that I'd probably wear with it although I'm tempted to look for something more girly.

I love it! Especially if you're wearing a fabulous hat to the wedding. It looks summery and cute. So adorable and totally appropriate.
