As far as I could tell, the laptop just stopped for no real reason. I was online both times- but then again, I generally am when I'm on the computer. Maybe it was just too much at once.
Checked the fans long ago. Definately not it...and I'm aware it could be the the motherboard dying, but that's hardly any consolation. Video card either. Laptops are just too dang hard/expensive/delicate for repairs sometimes. While replacing the harddrive sucked, it was still a painless do-it-myself process. Prying open the computer to put in a new motherboard- not so much.
Didn't really think of the power supply though I've double checked the cords. Not too sure how to see if it's clean or steady though.
But like you said, if it doesn't keep happening, I'm not going to worry. Right now I'm chalking it up to fluke- I'm doing a lot to my new harddrive as I'm setting it up, so it's possible it was just a bout of too-fast-too-soon or the like. ^_^;
