There are great, unique, really fun games out there, you just need to know what you enjoy and take the time to look around.
There are a few differences between the SNES days and now. A lot of folks our age and older who grew up on Nintendo have decided those games are too 'childish' for them. I personally disagree -- the question should always be if the game is fun, first and foremost. Also, control schemes have gotten a lot more complex because we can do much more complex things with games. This slows down the learning process and frustrates new gamers.

And I do of course own the Gamecube Sonic Mega Collection.
However, the series keeping me into gaming is Katamari Damacy. Most definitely the best recent game out there. =D
