Ach! or should that be !به! به I have my Farsi exam tomorrow - and I'm actually looking forward to it. Not because I have been permanently ensconsed in the library for the past 2-3 weeks, learning all there is to know about the ezafe, direct object marker or irregular verbs - I haven't, and I'm not that nerdy, despite the appearance presented by ( Read more... )

I found Uzbek relatively easy - but that was mostly because we had an excellent teacher, and it was the most intensive language course I've ever done - like force-feeding geese to procure foie gras. I've had a bit of a languagesphobia for many years, but SWSEEL seems to have cured me. Subsequently, Farsi has been quite enjoyable, and it shares a number of grammatical features with Uzbek, as well as there being a number of commmon words (e.g. inter alia Uzbek's days of the week are borrowed from Farsi.) i would reccomend it.
