yesterday was the last day in edinburgh. we woke, had class in the hotel, and then toured the queen's palace. it's basically her "summer home in scotland" - it was magnificent. incredible architecture. but that's pretty much everything in this city. then e.b. and i wandered around the city finding small vintage stores with clothes i wish i owned. Kudos on the info relay, Shley.

Alex, though I'm not too sure what's bothering you these days, I'd have to advise against the old strategy of "bottling it up," or "packing it in." I've gone through some tough stuff over the past year, and the best thing I could do for myself in those situations was face and accept my issues then and there, no matter how unplesant it was. Remember these sage words: Feigned serenity now, insanity later.

Tip for saving $$$ in London: London's brimming with a 1,000 delightful little bodegas, each providing delicious foods that are both culturally diverse and budget-friendly. Though it gets a bit old eating at the UK's equivalent of a 7/11, you'll be glad you saved your money for more important things, like beer and cigarettes. Also, thanks to some benevolent, common good agreement, all of the museums worth seeing in London are free. Make sure you visit the Tate Modern while you're there.

Have fun, kiddo. Looking forward to y'all's visit. in July.

my professor told me about a few places where we are staying that has cheap food.

in edinburgh i'm pretty sure i was eating at the equivalent of a 7/11 the entire time. pre-packaged sandwiches for 1.09 pounds. they were decent.

the cigarettes are what's killing me. i don't know what to smoke! i miss parliaments more than i can even explain. which is pretty pathetic...

i'm excited about the museums. my sister told me to visit saatchi which apparently is a rival of tate. so i'll attend both and compare.

i'm pretty excited - any other little tidbits you remember, let me know.

Here are the cigarettes I typically smoked in Europe:

In the UK: Benson and Hedges

In Amsterdam/Paris: Camel Blues (Not available in the USA!)

In Spain: Ducados (Perhaps the strongest cigarettes I've ever come across)

Also, try and find some of that sweet, sweet mango tea, bottled by Lipton. Shley knows what I'm saying.

The Queen's Jewels.

If that proves impossible, a picture of you posing as an obvious American next to a beefeater.

Both of these require that you visit the Tower of London, which, except for the two reasons listed above, is a horribly overpriced tourist trap.

Oh, and you can see a fat guy suit of armor, so that makes three reasons to go.
