Dong Bang Shin Ki’s Contract With SM Entertainment Ending.
Headlines like that were in every newspaper. Every magazine.
After 5 successful years of stardom, the 5-member boy band’s contract is ending. With no hint of continuing. News on what the members will be doing is still not known.
Repetitively smacking the youngest member in the face. His heart aching. No matter how long they had been expecting this. No matter how much they understood. It still hurt.
Solo projects have been hinted at in the past. But SM Entertainment refused to comment on the issue.
The article was ripped in half. Then in quarters. As tears threatened in Changmin’s deep brown eyes. No longer anything left of the boy he was, at 22 he had reached full maturity. Or had he?
A soft click of the door opening made him look up from the ripped magazine article. “Jae.. what are we going to do?” he asked softly, his eyes focusing once more on the paper in his hands. He had torn through the picture of them. Disgusted at the symbolism, he dropped the paper on his desk, resting his head in his hands.
“I’m going to sing. You’re going to model. Yoochun will do acting.” The older boy, now 24, replied blandly. “You know what we’re going to do, Min.”
The simple answer stabbed him in the heart. He felt like he might vomit as he stomach twisted. “I meant.. what will we do without each other. All of us? We’ve always been.. together.” His voice choking around the knot in his throat.
“We all knew it would happen. Stop acting so shocked.” Jaejoong grabbed his mp3 player before leaving the room again. Leaving it even more empty than it was before he entered.
The emptiness like a noose tightening around Changmin’s neck, he could hardly breathe. Loosing control, the tears fell hard and fast, racking his body under the intense pain. Did any of his band mates even care? He hadn’t seen any tears fall but his own. Wrapping his arms around himself, he gasped for air as he rode out the emotion. Wanting so badly to just wake up. It had to be a nightmare.
But it was no nightmare.
