Our closeness
The Tokai TV and WOWOW co-produced drama "Guess by Associate Professor Takatsuki Akira" will start on 7th August!
Inoo-chan, who plays his first leading role of Takatsuki Akira, an associate professor, and Jinguji, who plays Fukamachi Naoya, his assistant, appeared in a two-shot photo.
It's almost their first time working together, and they shared their impressions of each other with us!
How did you feel when you got the offer for the drama?
Inoo: It's my first starring role in a serial drama, and since Jinguji-kun is also in it, I don't consider it to be that big of a deal. I'm very grateful for the offer, and it gives me a greater sense of responsibility, so I'll do my best to create a good work.
Jinguji: It's been a really long time since I've acted in a film or drama, so I was worried that I might have forgotten a lot of things, but for me, I wanted to study a lot about acting, so I jumped when I got this offer!
What are your impressions of each other as first time co-stars?
Inoo: I can't help but think he's already so cute.
Jinguji: Thank you very much!
Inoo: I've worked with the juniors from time to time, but this is the first time I've worked with such closeness on a drama. I just say something casual, and he compliments me so much, saying "Inoo-kun, you're so smart," which really makes me feel good. If Hey! Say! JUMP were there, no one would compliment me.
Jinguji: I had this imagined image in my head that Inoo-kun was shy, but after we started filming, he talked to me nicely and helped me a lot. Inoo-kun really is smart. He has a beautiful way of choosing words, and I can see him light up when he talks. I also think that I should steal from Inoo-kun so that I can become even a little bit smarter.
Inoo: See, what could possibly feel as good as this? (laughs). If Hey! Say! JUMP were here, I wouldn't hear these words. It's the best.
Please tell us about a story during shooting.
Jinguji: I have something I feel bad about. As the story progresses, I'll be working with Takatsuki-sensei more and more, but I don't have any lines.
Inoo: Hahaha! The producers do say there are no lines (laughs).
Jinguji: No, no! During Inoo-kun's long lines, there are times when I'm asked to react with my face like "What do you mean?", but I can't fail.
Inoo: You haven't failed, so it's okay (laughs)
Jinguji: I also read the script very carefully.
Inoo: On the contrary, I feel bad for what I do. During my long lines, Jinguji-kun is just standing there listening without a microphone, right?
Jinguji: Please quit it! (laughs)
Inoo: When I have my hands full with my role, I don't really communicate with the staff much, but Jinguji-kun brightens up the scene, which helps me a lot.
The unexpected side we saw when we acted together
Jinguji: I think he's spent more time in the role of 'Sensei' than in the role of 'Inoo-kun,' and I'm sorry if this is rude of me, but Sensei is so cute that he's starting to look like a toy poodle. Sometimes he looks at me with round and cute eyes, and I think it's a romantic comedy instead of a mystery (laughs). I really like that, so I'm looking forward to those scenes.
Inoo: That kind of thing is good (laughs). When I watch King & Prince on TV and see the other three members except for Nagase-kun (Ren) and Jinguji-kun who were guests on "Merengue no Kimochi", I have a strong image of them as goofy/clumsy people (T/N: Tennen), so on the other hand, I had a strong image of Jinguji-kun as serious and reliable However, when I met him, I couldn't help but find him cute. He sometimes says interesting things.
Jinguji: I couldn't set the time on my watch.
Inoo: That's right. When we were filming the drama, they asked us to set our watch to 17:00, and Jinguji-kun said loudly, "17:00 is 5:00 p.m., right?" He looked so serious, but I also thought Jinguji-kun was in trouble too (laughs).
One final message
Inoo: In this drama, the main character, Takatsuki, shows his various interpretations of strange phenomena and the incidents surrounding it. The days are continuing to still be very difficult, and I'm sure the interpretation of this [current] situation may change depending on each person's position. This may be a bit presumptuous, but I hope through this drama, it will be a motivation for people to say, "If I interpret it this way, I wonder if I'll feel a little better," and I hope this will become a drama that will make people think, "I'll do my best again tomorrow." Of course, I think it can be enjoyed as a mystery or puzzle-solving [drama] as well, so I hope everyone will see it.
Jinguji: My role and Takatsuki-sensei are very different, but I think that's what makes it interesting. The combination of Inoo-kun and me is something you don't usually see, so I hope you enjoy that aspect of the drama. In addition to the mystery and weirdness, there is also a bit of romantic comedy, so it has a lot of different elements. If you can watch the drama from various perspectives, including the details of how we are acting, I think you will find a new way to enjoy it, so please watch this drama and have a fun tomorrow.
