Home Economics is a class where they teach you a variety of domestic skills such as cooking, sewing, decorating, balancing budgets for the home, child care and development, etc. In the past it was generally designed to be taught exclusively to girls, but over the past few decades more and more boys have enrolled as well.

The Home Ec classes here more so deal with the financial planning aspects of child care rather than the parenting part. Traditionally Home Ec classes deal with the cooking, sewing, and decorating aspects of domestic learning.
