This is amazing! You just get better all the time! That relationship is one of my favorites in The Silmarillion! What a dog! (Just teasing, Huan! You are all that and so much more!)

Thank you so much. As per usual, your bio at SWG was a great ressource when doing this piece!

Are my eye mistaken or he does look a lot like a harlequin Great Dane? :D

Beautifully done!

I love this! (And share Binka's excitement that he looks like a harlequin Great Dane!) It's a really cool approach to the prompt, and I totally agree with you (although I never thought in such terms before now) that that first act of speech must have taken some courage. Kind of like spending three wishes. :)

(Please post this at the SWG too! It totally counts!)

Thank you!! I know the text calls Huan a wolfhound, but I have always thought of him as something like a Great Dane. :D I can imagine the thrill of fear once he realises that his nature is bidding him take that first step towards his doom, but being unable to choose otherwise.

I've posted it at the SWG lj too!

Thank you so much! I never thought much about Huan either, but he is really a quite interesting character.

That's a whopping big version of Huan and a very doggy one!
Yes, I know--if he's large enough for Luthien to ride him, then most versions are really too small, aren't they?
He does look quite worried, about the talking thing, and rather besotted with Luthien at the same time.
And this Luthien looks quite the action heroine--not taking her imprisonment well, by her frown!

It was a bit of mind gymnastics to make him that big. I really had to think of him as sort of horse sized. :D

I'm so happy you can read those expressions in him - that is exactly what I hoped for! And Luthien in my head would not race towards Morgoth in flowing dresses, nor would she meekly accept any maltreatment. Good for her that Huan decides to help out. :D

Thank you for your comment!
