This is a beautiful, thoughtful way to view Elwing's unique experience.

Thank you so much. I can't imagine what she must have gone through, and can only think it must have marked her deeply.

OMG! This is intense and incredibly heartbreaking and beautiful. The artwork is stunning! You just constantly surpass yourself. I am speechless. I want everyone to see these piece.

It fits with The Silmarillion and how women don't get any breaks there! Seriously! It's epic, harsh, and totally beautiful. I completely am able to believe it.

Thank you so much! I'm so happy this rings true to you! And yes, women really do not have it easy in the Silm, even when they apparently get to live ever after married to the love of their life....

This has been a great challenge to me, artwise and storywise, and I'm so flattered to see such wonderful words attached to your reading experiense. :)

That is beautiful - and so poignant.

And I absolutely agree that the Silmaril could have influenced her to the point of being half-mad.

The Silmarils do seems to be entities that demand a great part of your attention - so many have wanted to possess them. And for Elwing it has cost her her entire family and childhood home, so no wonder that she would be attached to it, to the detriment of seeing clearly in other matters.

Thank you for reading and leaving such a nice comment.

This is fantastic, hyrmfaxe! The artwork is amazing, so fluid and elegant, and such a stark contrast to the bleak (in the best possible way) tone of the story itself.

Basically, I think Elwing may have been halfmad with it

Oh, yes! I like your interpretation a great deal. For all that the Silmarils were deemed "holy jewels" that did not suffer the touch of the corrupt, there's something vaguely sinister about them, or at the very least, a kind of power (with no volition of its own) that can warp thoughts and motivations. Your comic captures the lingering madness in Elwing.

And your illustrations of ALL.THOSE.GULLS? OMG! I can hear and smell them! *Shudder* That would drive one to madness, too.

Beautifully chilling work!

Thank you so much!! I do think the silmarils would demand a lot of your attention, and when the possession has cost you so much personally as it has Elwing, I think, as you say that thoughts and priorities become unclear compared the need to keep it safe. I'm so happy the slight unhinging in Elwing comes through this story.

OMG, those gulls!!! I have really developed a shorthand for drawing flying gulls - they nearly drove me mad too....

Thank you again for leaving such a nice comment.
