Silm, HP and RL

I have artwork up in several places! For the Silmarillion I have an entry in the Back to Middle earth Month 2008 over at the Silmarillion Writers Guild, where many different people's love and appreciation for Tolkien is honoured during this month. If you haven't visited these pages to drool over artwork and excerpts from stories from some of the ( Read more... )

I have no intention of kicking you. I'll limit myself to pinching, ok? ;)

Don't you love B2MeM? I think I'm totally addicted. I simply love to read people's narratives and find out what draws them to the Silm :D

I do love it - it is completely awesome. And the plotbunnies are breeding like mad critters. *down I say - and NO biting!* It's a Tolkien-feast and I'm never leaving.

Pinching will work just as well. ;) And of course has the added bonus of not being quite so painful. Do you still wear steel-toed Doc Martens? ;)

Damn those bunnies! It's an international occurrence, I believe. They're here too! ;)

Yeps, B2MeM is really really wonderful.

Do you still wear steel-toed Doc Martens?

Always. I only don't sleep with them on. So yeah, pinching would be less uncomfortable. ;)

It's an international occurrence, I believe. They're here too! I don't mind bunnies visiting other people - but I don't have room for all of them! *flail* Oh well - I might as well surrender; there is no escape from them.

I loved your submission, it made me wonder for a sec if we shared a dream something, since I intended to write about the good King Denethor. I saw it and went like... w00t!!!!

Happy drawing honey, I keep my fingers crossed for the UN thing.

Thank you! And please write about King Denethor!! *feeds plotbunny* Those green-elves are inserting themselves in all my ideas these days. ;)

I have so many things crossed for the UN thing that it's a wonder that I can get anything done. lol!

I'm not really here (supposed to be off writing fic but, as I'm eating my breakfast, I think I'm allowed five minutes;)), but wow, there's some lovely, stunning artwork and excerpts at the Guild. I've started to look and had to stop, otherwise I'll be looking for ages and there will be no writing done at all, but I'll be back. Your entry is wonderful. :)

Lots of luck with the result of the interview and good for you in pushing yourself. Can this kicking work both ways as it always does me good? ;)

And I'll catch up on your entry at Red; I haven't looked at anything there yet. Very excited to hear there's words from you too.:D

Just take your time - as I remember there is some very important kicking-the-bureaucrat to be done this week. And I hope I can live up to this initial excitement! ;)

Thank you for not really dropping by! And do be careful with the Guild - time works differently there: you spend a few minutes looking and reading and meanwhile in the real world hours will have passed! lol! And thank you for your kind words on my entry.
I'm so happy to have stumbled upon the Guild. Almost like the fandom community for R/T is in (IMHO) higher in quality than the general HP, so I have found that the Silmarillion community produces more art and stories that are more to my liking than the LoTR one.

What do you need to be kicked for? ;)

Ooh, thanks for the link to the Silmarillion Writers Guild -- I'll save that for when I have some more time to go and enjoy! (As you can see, I'm a few days behind around here as it is...)

I really hope you get good results from the UN exam, but your English is so natural, I don't see how the results could be anything other than good! In any case, I'm sorry to hear that you're tired of your job, and I hope you can find something that makes you happier, one way or another.

May I ask what you've studied in that long education of yours? (Don't answer if you don't want the information to be sitting on your journal -- I certainly understand the desire for information control on LJ...)

Do go and check out the Guild - it is definitely worth the time! ;) Are you interested in Tolkien's works as well?

Thank you for the compliments to my English - it is nice to know that it sounds/writes natural. As for my studies I have a Master in French and one in African Studies*. A dream job for me would be almost anything where I was working in Western Africa (which is francophone). :) Right now I'm working in the accounting department of a shipping company typing invoices... a far cry from what I want..

*African studies were a essentially societal studies with a focus only on Sub-Saharan Africa. History, religion, anthropology, economy, political affairs etc.

French and African Studies sounds like a wonderful combination. I think I remember reading that you've already spent some time living in Africa, right? You'd be great for the UN -- let's hope they realize that!

I'm not *cough*obsessed*cough* with Tolkien's works quite as much as I am with HP, but I read the Hobbit, LOTR, and the Silmarillion years ago and did love them. I reread LOTR more recently, when the films came out -- although I haven't seen the films and might not ever see them -- and mean to do it again from time to time.

I definitely thought they were interesting studies - and yes I did work as a trainee for the Danish Embassy in Burkina Faso some years ago. I have to say that I think I would be good for the UN too, and keep my fingers crossed that they can tell this fact among the hundreds and hundreds of other people..

I came into this internet fan-community thing via my interest in Tolkien and the lovely mods at the Guild, and I'm more in love with Tolkien than HP. However, I'm glad that I don't have to choose one over the other! :) And why haven't you seen the films? Are you afraid to be disappointed?
