We've been to Germany and back. For whatever reason we decided to take the Channel Tunnel route, and both ways we ended up on a later crossing than we'd planned. Wet weather and slow traffic on the M4 and M25 were mostly responsible for the delay on the way out. We got a train an hour later than the one we'd booked, and got to Bielefeld after 9pm.

Autumn's definitely here. I'm not sure how much of the early colour's been down to a drier summer, though. Apparently over in central Germany some trees are dieing and others are under stress because there've been three dry summers in a row. There were quite a few dead (or at least brown-leaved, which is wrong for an evergreen) larches on the summit, and round Wernigerode...

If we had a labrador it'd probably spend too much time in the huge new pond...
