A question: a friend of mine is asexual but would like to see about dating for companionship reasons. What would be a good spot for her to start looking, or asking, about such things as discussions or meet-ups? She'd especially love a good asexual or asexual-friendly dating service. If the aim is asexual companionship ("asexual dating" strikes me as an oxymoron), the question arises whether the lady has any gay male friends with whom she could spend time enjoyably. As it happens, the Sundance Channel is currently running a documentary series, "Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys", which may be of interest for its exploration of that dynamic:

It's not as much of an oxymoron as you might think -- there are lots of degrees of asexuality, and plenty of asexual people form strong emotional or romantic attachments, even with folks who aren't asexual. There are people who are asexual and not interested in romance, but others are. Gay friends are great for the straight asexual girl, but unless they want to stay closeted you can't marry 'em.

I've only had one asexual aquaintance (that I know of) and they found that the easiest way was finding social or hobbyist groups and being part of a local community rather than a dating service in particular.
