I find the ploy dodgy at best. On the other hand, they seem to have identified one of the things I like best about the game, which is the amazing visual content. (Well, aside from the Knight Bus portkey recently, which was hands down the worst graphics I've seen since... early nineties, maybe. I kept checking to see if I needed to update my assets. lol) I'm not too worried, though, because I've never bought keys or anything like them. If there's a task requirement and they're gating it fiscally, I simply won't complete it. The way they tackle adversary events is more clever and more subtle. At some point I've exhausted my potions supply and that's when I quit, but I'd bet plenty buy potions to continue

Well, I hoard the silver keys they give me for 5km portkeys so if the first one turns out to be cool then I will probably use what silver keys I have left to open some at the end of the event. I’m looking forward to Newt, but a little ticked that they are so blatantly trying to force money out of people.
I don't get a lot of the 5km portkeys (mostly because I don't pick portkeys up outside of brilliant events), so I still have a store of silver keys fortunately. That comes in handy for things like this.
There have been reports of AdventureSync working for even fewer people than usual (yeah, I know), so try to make sure it's behaving as expected going into this mini event so you don't fill up slots in advance of it that you might need if AS isn't.

So now they are hoping for high key sales since they disappear if they aren’t in process when the event ends. Sigh.
